 Trying to be Normal {Nate}

Gabriella woke up this morning and really didn't feel like putting on her wig. Sometimes she felt like that. She sometimes gets so aggravated with the wig that she just keeps it off and wears a hat or a bandana. So today, Gabriella was wearing a hat, backwards. Anyone who saw her, could tell that she didn't have any hair. Well she does have hair but at the moment it's just fuzz, like how when a boy goes bald and it starts to grow back, it's just barely there. Her hair takes a while to grow in.

Gabriella walked out of her dorm and into the courtyard. She thought it was a beautiful day for a walk however she couldn't over work herself. Mother's orders. Gabriella hated how her mom was so over protective. Gabriella had her arms wrapped around her stomach as she walked down the path in the courtyard. She looked around and saw people walking to and from places but none bothered to stop and talk to her. That was usually the case any way. She was sorta used to it. People, once they find out she has , well had, cancer, they avoid her like the plague. Gabriella hates that.

A sigh escaped his lips as he glanced towards the hallway in which he remained in, hating the fact that he was all alone, once again. It seemed that nowadays, people preferred drifting off in their own land, and Nate found it rather annoying, having to endure all the boredom without any other companion to entertain him. No matter how much he tried to search for the word fun in boredom, this time, he didn't seem to find it in the least bit, and that scared him somewhat, for boredom was never something that he could have tolerated easily. Especially with those thoughts that always run through his mind, with everything that had happened within life, it was quite hard not to remember the past, which was utterly haunting towards him. Most of the time, he'd merely ignore it, and act like nothing was wrong, though he knew much better than that. Someday, he might even just... break, if that's the exact word for it. But no - he couldn't. This was Nate Vanleer for goodness' sake, meaning that seeing him with anything other than a smile was really impossible. Nate... he was Nate. As stupid as that sounds, it actually did make sense towards him. Nate was happy, wasn't he? Just perfectly joyful, even though many people did hate him because of that. He still hated the fact that he knew this wouldn't last... not for long, for life always stabbed someone in the back whether they liked it or not. Sooner or later, it would be Nate's turn to face such consequences of running away from his fear and his past.

He preferred later rather than sooner, for then... it'll take a much longer time than he wanted. He removed his leaning figure from the wall, and started walking down the hallway to an unknown destination, just wanting to bring back the forgotten fun in those few moments. A smile framed his lips, though his insides were aching with boredom, and he didn't like it in the least bit. Where was everyone when you needed them? As he stepped into the courtyard, the fresh breeze greeted him, as the smile turned into a childish grin, attempting to glance around for anyone, though he couldn't quite spot someone he knew. His feet carried him through the courtyard, merely enjoying the feeling of it and nothing more. As he nearly bumped into someone, Nate stopped himself and still had that grin, for he knew that 'bumping into someone randomly' was quite typical of him, but then again, it never did hurt anyone before, did it? Nate was quite clumsy, and this was no surprise to state the truth. "Sorry 'bout that. he stated in his slight scottish accent, as he glanced at the figure, raising his eyebrow for he didn't seem to recognize whom she was, though introduced himself first, still grinning rather childishly. "I'm Nate, by the way. He knew that the fact that he was stating his name was rather lame, but he couldn't find anything else to say, not when his boredom was slightly subsiding slowly.

Gabriella wasn't really paying any attention to where she was going. She was trying not to see all the people who were staring at her. She hated it that every where she went she had people staring at her. She glared at many people who were staring at her as she walked down the path. She could feel the warm sun beating down on her back. The warm sun felt good on her back. She glanced up and noticed some people staring, "Take a picture. It'll last longer," Gabriella sneered. They turned away and walked down the path, getting away from Gabriella's glare. Gabriella rolled her eyes and adjusted her hat. She put on her sun glasses that were on top of the hat. She sighed when she felt it easier to see in the blinding sun light. She continued walking. She was softly humming a tune to a song that she was listening to earlier this morning. The song was called "I'm Already There." Gabriella absolutely loved that song. She could sing it very well but she just figured that no one wanted to hear her sing. After all who would want to listen to a girl with cancer sing.

Gabriella continued walking, the light breeze blowing past her. Gabriella reached up and made sure that her hat stayed on. The last thing she needed was for her hat to come off. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going and she felt herself collide with someone. She felt herself fall to the ground, knocking her hat off her head. "Hey watch where you're," Gabriella said and then stopped short when she looked up, "going." she finished, her voice barely in a whisper. Standing above her was the most handsome person she had ever seen. Now she barely interacts with guys because they usually get creeped out by the fact that she has cancer and they run away from her. Gabriella looked up when he introduced himself. She smiled softly. "I'm Gabriella Logan but my friends call me Gabi or Brie." Gabriella said softly. She was still on the ground, her hat, when it fell off her, landed in front of Nathan's feet. She felt her cheeks grow red. Even though not having hair was normal for a kid with cancer, she felt embarassed by having the little fuzz that she did on her head. She hoped that he wouldn't make fun of her for it.
